Tissue-level: still the Best?
- What is the difference between tissue level and bone level implants concerning the preservation of hard and soft tissues?
- What is the impact of the soft tissue adherence on the abutment surface for the prevention of peri implant disease?
- What advantages offers the one abutment – one time concept?
-
Abstract:
During the last 40 years the design of the implant neck as well as the implant-abutment connection have undergone various modifications which, in turn, have reduced the peri-implant bone modelling. However, the annual marginal bone loss (MBL) around implants is still greater than the one around natural teeth. This presentation will analyse the MBL of tissue-level implants compared to bone level implants with and without platform-switching. In case of bone level implants, the impact of inserting the final abutment at the time of implant placement will be discussed. Furthermore, this lecture will address a new concept to improve the soft tissue adherence around one-time abutments.
